Jean Giraud aka. "Moebius" died today after a long career as an illustrator whose infinite creativity and fantastic design sense earned him thousands of fans and inspired countless other creators.  He was a supreme talent of the comics form as well as illustrations in general. A Day of Ambiguity

A Week at the @$$IES

           Every year AICN Comics hosts an annual "awards show" for sequential imagery.  This year that mystical consumer of all comics, Majin-Fu, aka me, participated in the nominations. It was a strange year for comic books, as you will soon see from this year's picks for the @$$IES. Yep, that's what they call them. Like an Oscar, but it smells like an old gym sock and it's more impressive on a resume. The Ain't It Cool Comics crew are a funny group of not-so-gentle people and I enjoyed the comics discussion we all shared this year.  Axe-Cop for example, is one I enjoyed for a time in its online form, and then completely forgot about for awhile. I think it might be time to check back in. Habibi is another one I hope I get a chance to read soon as well.  What were your favorite books from 2011?

Superman in the Vein of Paradise Lost

One of my classes had a creative writing option where we could choose one author and adapt a portion of their work.  I figured writing about Superman like John Milton made perfect sense.  It's just an excerpt, so the story has no ending and it begins in medias res.  It has some formatting issues and I'm still not happy with some of the word choice, but it was still a really fun project to work on. I wrote this a few months after the HP oil spill and you can see how the conflict in the poem was inspired by my own feelings of helplessness.  I'm curious to see what you all think, and constructive criticism is always welcome.

College

Love is everywhere here,
